The Watch of Rallye Elbflorenz

3... 2... 1... The Rallye-
Chronograph GLP

The countdown is on: On September 13, 2024, around 200 classic cars will start at the 12th Elbflorenz Rally. This year, our first edition of the GLP rally chronograph with countdown bezel, limited to 100 pieces, will also be at the start.

Whether it’s a secret special stage or when all the stopwatches on board are already in use: the GLP rally chronograph was developed together with the classic car enthusiast organisers of the Rallye Elbflorenz to support the starter teams in regularity tests (GLP).

The perfectly coordinated details of the robust timepiece impressively demonstrate how much passion went into the development of this watch – a clear sign of Mühle-Glashütte’s commitment to classic cars as a cultural asset.

We have been supporting the Elbflorenz Rally for many years. This is not only due to our enthusiasm for the historically valuable vehicles, but also to the tradition of our family business. As R. Mühle & Sohn, we have also been manufacturing speedometers, rev counters and car clocks since around 1920.

Countdown to the perfect score

A watch with ‘petrol in its blood’

The rally chronograph can stop the time to an accuracy of one eighth of a second. This is made possible by the precise Mühle chronograph movement MU 9413, which is equipped with the efficient Mühle rotor and a Glashütte three-quarter plate including Glashütte stopwork and removable escape wheel bridge. It also features the particularly shock-resistant woodpecker neck regulation.

The finely finished movement is protected by a solid stainless steel case with a diameter of 45 millimetres. Thanks to the screw-down crown and 2.5 millimetre thick sapphire crystal, it is as robust as it is pressure-resistant. It is held securely on the wrist by a rubber strap with a safety folding clasp including fine adjustment or a vintage leather strap with matching green contrast stitching and perforations.

High contrast and bright
The chronograph functions on the matt black dial are highlighted in a bright green colour so that precise time measurement is also possible while driving. This not only makes it easy to read off a stop time, but also reflects the usual practice at classic car rallies: secret special stages are usually announced and finished with a start and finish flag on a green background.

The countdown is on
The bidirectional rotating bezel - which can also be operated with gloves - is equipped with a countdown scale. This indicates the remaining time of a special stage in the range from 60 to 15 seconds in clear increments of 5. The last 10 seconds are shown in increments of 1 for counting down - and are also highlighted in green.

Large start pusher
Matching the chronograph displays on the dial and countdown bezel, the pushers for the stop function are also green. The start/stop pusher at 2 o'clock has a very voluminous design. This means that it can be operated easily and without confusion even during highly concentrated rally phases. The pusher for resetting a stop time, on the other hand, is slightly smaller and positioned at 4 o'clock.
